The top five ingredients in skincare right now

Everything you need to know about the ingredients we’re loving right now

With skin and skin health trending, we wanted to share our top picks for the ingredients taking skincare to the next level in 2022 and beyond. Check these off your list.

First up, Ashwagandha. This renowned, Ayurvedic wellness ingredient targets collagen to help visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles while helping soothe dry skin & moisturize, making it a major multitasker. It is also known to aid in producing skin-enriching compounds like elastin and collagen.  You can find it in our NEW Advanced Retinol Nightly Multi-Correct Serum.

Next is polyglutamic acid. Derived from plants, this moisture-binding agent helps counteract the drying side effects of Retinol and keeps your skin healthy looking and hydrated; and is also found in our nightly Retinol serum mentioned above.

Though fermentation may make you think of kombucha, it’s also an innovative ingredient in skincare.  Fermentation breaks things down into smaller parts making  the ingredient more bioavailable to the skin for better penetration and generally good tolerability without irritation. Our Arctic Marine Ferment helps neutralize the visible effects of blue light and is found in a few of our products, including our NEW Peptight™ Tightening Neck Serum Roller.

Another buzzy ingredient is one dear to our hearts: Niacin.

Beauty watchers are saying Niacin, also known as Vitamin B3, will be the ingredient of the year for its supportive, all-around skin-loving goodness; even though it’s been around for a minute, it's having a moment. This game-changing ingredient makes up our proprietary NIA-114™, our optimized form of Niacin/VitaminB3 clinically proven to strengthen the skin barrier and supercharge the performance of other components for visibly transformed, healthy-looking skin. This compound is found in all our products, so choose your StriVectin skincare adventure to enjoy the benefits of our science throughout our entire line-up.

As a gentler alternative to Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), BHAs or Beta Hydroxy Acids are trending and have always been a fan favorite. This chemical exfoliant eliminates dead skin cells and creates a soft, smooth texture and a brighter complexion. Ideal for blemish-prone or oily skin, this acid also works to clarify and tighten the pore lining while absorbing excess surface oil.

And you may have seen your favorite beauty editor talking about enzymes. Typically sourced from fruits and vegetables, enzymes work to exfoliate, brighten, and smooth skin gently. Plus, they are even gentler alternatives to Alpha-hydroxy or beta-hydroxy acids. BHAs and enzymes can be found in our NEW Super-Shrink Pore Minimizing Serum.
