If my makeup contains SPF, do I still need to apply a sunscreen daily?

Absolutely! If you truly want to protect yourself from the harmful long-term effects of the sun, you have to apply a sunscreen with SPF 30 daily on top of your last skin care product before any cosmetics. You really don't want to ask too much of one product letting each master what they are designed to accomplish. But feel free to use a makeup with SPF as well. It can't hurt!

I've frequently heard that 80% of a person's lifetime sun exposure is caused before the age of 18. Is this really true?

Actually the answer is no! According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, 23% of a person's lifetime sun exposure is caused before the age of 18 based on a 78-year lifespan. Which means it must be a lifelong commitment to protect our skin from the sun. No matter what your age, you need SPF!

Should I change my skin care routine when I travel?

I find that if I fly from one climate to another, I have adjust my skin care regimen. Drier climates require more hydration and humid climates require deeper cleansing and exfoliation. But whether skiing in the snow or the waves, we all need that SPF! (Oh, and while flying make sure you have TSA-approved sizes of your moisturizer and lip balm handy in your carry-on. The flight alone can challenge the skin.)
